    September 2006

Welcome back after the long summer holiday. Everyone looked very smart for the first day of term and settled in quickly.

This is an exciting time of year as new families and teachers join our school. A special Willow Park welcome to Mrs Jafuneh and Mr Kilcoyne, who join our staff team.

During the holiday the toilets were finished and all the children have been able to use the new facilities today.

After the great success of our Fruit & Milk tuck shop we will be selling healthy items again this year. Each item is priced at 20p, but we offer discounts when buying two or more. So if your child wants to buy a carton of cool milk and a pieces of  fresh fruit they should bring 30p to school.

We still have builders on site as work has started on the safe cycle to school route. Once the track and storage work is finished we will be giving cycle training lessons to the older children. Only children who have successfully completed the training will be allowed to bring a cycle to school. If you wish to know any more about safe cycling please contact school.

Our next major project in to convert existing room into a dinning hall and scullery. This will enable the children and catering staff to have a improved surroundings and remove the need to go out of the building at lunchtimes. Governors are working to complete this upgrading as soon as possible.

Our school is looking for a new parent governor. Could you help to provide the best education possible for the children of Willow Park?

If you are interested or would like to chat through just what a governor has to do -  please talk to Mrs Hardacre or any of the governors.

Friends of Willow Park

The Friends of Willow Park would like to welcome new families to school and hope that you will soon be joining in with our activities. Perhaps you could help out in some way at the fundraising events. All the money raised is used to provide equipment or experiences for the children. To find out more please speak to Mrs Day or Mrs Denbigh-White.

Reminders

Dinner Money - please send in the full amount each Monday in a sealed envelope. This term dinners cost £6.50. If you think your child may qualify for free school dinners please contact Mrs Atack in the office.

Reading book bags – please make sure your child brings their book bag and reading book to school every day. Doing this you will help their progress.

PE and Swimming kit – please make sure your child has the correct kit when needed. Teachers will  soon be sending home a Topic Talk sheet with information on for you to keep.

Water Bottles – please give your child a water bottle (with a sports cap) to bring to school. This is important, as children need to take a drink during the day. Your child can refill their bottle in school, but we hope the bottle will come home each evening for a wash!
