October 2006
Coming back after the half term holiday reminds us that nights are drawing in and that Christmas will soon be here. During the break the work on the cycle track continued and the tarmac finish is being applied this week. When it is finished access from the ash track will be via the new gates. Once the storage facility is finished we will arrange for cycle training to be given.
Next week is Road Safety Week and your child will be doing work in school to help them stay safe. Each child will be given a reflective sticker for their book bag or coat to help them be seen at night.
As you know bullying can be a problem in any school and our school is supporting National Anti-Bullying Week from 20th 24th November. A range of assemblies and lessons will help your child to combat bullying in school and on the street. Please talk to them about their lessons and how they can increase their personal safety.
Harvest Festival
Thank you to everyone who sent in food for the harvest festival and to those of you who came along and bagged a bargain at the end. Altogether we raised £17.80 and this money will be given to the School Councils chosen charity.
Friends of Willow Park
The Friends of Willow Park will be holding their Autumn Fair on Wednesday 15th November. Your support is needed to make this a special success
~ You can help by;
§ Talking to Mrs Day about being a helper
§ Allowing your child to come in non-uniform on Monday 13th Nov but send a bottle as a fine
§ Sending in any items for sale to Mrs Day
Coming along at 2.15 on Wed 15th Nov you can collect your child from their classroom and then spend, spend, spend!
Drinking Water ~ being able to have water to drink is important to keep children healthy and able to concentrate at school. That is why we encourage children to have a drinking bottle with them. Today your child has been shown how to use the new water machines to fill their bottle with cool, filtered water. The children will be able to refill their bottles before registration, at break and at lunchtime. Please supply your child with a suitable bottle the best ones are the recycled ones! Also remember that juice or pop is not allowed in school.
REMINDERS
Dinner money please could this be sent into school on MONDAY each week.
Book Bags each child has been given a blue logo book bag and these should last them through their junior years. Using the bag is important as it keeps expensive reading books safe, helps your child to bring letters home and to return homework. Some children have lost or damaged their bags and asked for another from school. We now have to pass on the cost of replacements bags at £3.50 each.
