November 2006
This week is supporting National Anti-Bullying Week from 20th –24th November. A range of assemblies and lessons will help your child to combat bullying in school and on the street. Please talk to them about their lessons and how they can increase their personal safety.
Friends of Willow Park
The Friends of Willow Park put on a spectacular Autumn Fair on Wednesday 15th November. Your support was much appreciated – we had a brilliant Bric-a-Brac, mouth watering Cakes and terrific Tombolla. In total we raised £453 – remember every penny raised is spent on the children. A huge thank you to Mrs Day and all her helpers for collecting, selling and tidying up.
The winning raffle numbers are:
1st prize – Hamper, 121 to 125
2nd Prize – Red wine, 1 to 5
3rd Prize – Aftershave, 11 - 15
4th prize – Book, 101 - 105
5th prize - White wine, 141 – 145.
If you are a lucky winner please collect your prize from the office. The “guess the weight of the cake” was won by Mrs Day.
Planning has already started on the next Friends of Willow Park event for the Spring Term. If you would like to be involved in any way please contact Mrs Denbigh-White or Mrs Day.
Drinking Water ~ as you know your child has access to fresh filtered drinking water from our special coolers. The children who are using them are certainly doing so in a most responsible way. Please note that only plastic drinking bottles are allowed. This is because the metal ones are very heavy and we have had some accidents with them falling over and off tables.
Book Week
Next week is book week and we will be displaying a range of books for sale. Please visit the main hall to see just what is on offer. The first opportunity to buy a book will be on Tuesday 28th November fro 3.15 to 3.45.
Number Day, 4th December
Our sponsored event for this term is to support the NSPCC who are having a Number Day. All children in school will take part in activities that will help them with Mathematics as well as raising money for this important charity. Please look out for further details to follow shortly.
Images Art Gallery
All the children’s work has been collected and is being prepared for display in our Images Art Gallery on Wednesday 29th November from 3.00 to 5.00 pm. Please come along to see the wonderful work that has been completed. Remember that you will also be able to buy your child’s picture – a lasting memento or perhaps a very special Christmas Present.
Educational Visits
Children from school continue to enjoy educational visits linked to their topic work in school. Recently Children from Year 6 visited Wakefield Museum to take part in a special World War 2 day.
Mrs Rawes and Mrs Denbigh-White took their classes to York railway museum to look at transport in Victorian times and how the railway helped York grow as a town.
REMINDERS
School Uniform – please make sure that your child is wearing the correct uniform – especially black shoes. Trainers should only be worn for PE. If you have a problem with shoes please send in a note for your child’s teacher.
